Wingers grows UK footprint with five new franchised stores in 2024

Wingers, a restaurant brand known for its chicken dishes, is bolstering its presence in the UK by opening five new franchised stores across the country in 2024.

The new outlets are situated in Telford, West Bridgford, Watford, Harborne High Street in Birmingham, and Birmingham International train station.

Founded in 2020 by brothers Amran and Dylan Sunner as a dark kitchen, Wingers transitioned into a franchising model under the guidance of their father, Bill Sunner, in the autumn of 2022.

With 11 sites currently operational, Wingers is targeting a total of 20 stores by the end of 2024 and the 50 stores milestone by 2028.

The future expansion strategy includes establishing a presence in the northeast and northwest of England, and in Scotland.

The brand is also looking at strategic locations along the M1 and M6 corridors and in key cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.

Amran Sunner said: “Since we initially set up from our dark kitchen during the pandemic in June 2020, it’s been a huge learning curve and a real success story.  We now love investing in our brand and supporting all of our franchisees to grow their individual businesses.

"We have now put all the infrastructure in place including the right team members plus our own in-house marination facility and national marketing to ensure franchisees have everything they need to create a thriving Wingers franchised business of their own.

“We are now ready to take Wingers to new heights. Our goal is to open 50 stores within the next four years, so we are now looking to work with more QSR [quick service restaurant] professionals and experienced business people to manage our planned pipeline of stores on a franchised basis in key development areas."

Wingers first launched as a franchise in August 2023, and confirmed its plans to expand the existing store footprint across the UK.
