Indian food delivery company Zomato has broadened its priority food delivery service to include Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune, The Times Of India has reported.

The service, which promises quicker delivery times for an added charge, was initially introduced in select areas of Mumbai and Bengaluru in April 2024.

The company is developing a range of other services to enhance its offerings and revenue streams.

The paid super-fast delivery option allows users to receive their orders up to five minutes faster than the standard delivery time, according to a previous report by Moneycontrol.

Zomato charges between Rs19 ($0.22) and Rs29 for each priority delivery order. The fee applies equally to orders from Zomato Gold members, who enjoy benefits such as discounts and complimentary delivery.

Zomato has also raised its platform fee from Rs4 to Rs5 per order. This fee, distinct from the delivery charge, has incrementally increased from an initial Rs2 in August 2023.

Amidst efforts to diversify its revenue sources, Zomato is testing new services, including last-mile delivery for employees at corporate parks.

In early 2024 the company launched an all-electric fleet capable of handling large orders for groups of up to 50 people.

In March, Ant Group sold a 2.1% stake in Zomato for $341.5m amidst ongoing India-China trade and investment tensions. The shares were sold at a price range between Rs160.11 and Rs160.40.

In September 2023, Zomato introduced an AI-based chatbot, Zomato AI, to assist subscription-based Gold members with order placement.

The company described the chatbot as "intelligent, intuitive and interactive," designed to streamline the ordering process for its premium customers.
