Management Occupations, with a share of 30%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the food service industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings drop by 9% quarter-on-quarter. Food Preparation and Serving Related Occupations came in second with a share of 23% in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 40% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2023, Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in food service industry accounted for 69% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Raising Cane’s USA, Dave & Buster's Entertainment, Sodexo, Domino's Pizza Enterprises, and Brunning & Price. Together they accounted for a combined share of 69% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the food service industry.
Raising Cane’s USA posted 1,060 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Dave & Buster's Entertainment 505 jobs, Sodexo 471 jobs, Domino's Pizza Enterprises 464 jobs, and Brunning & Price 360 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 70.71% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the food service industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 70.71% followed by Australia (14.97%) and the UK (11.12%). The share represented by the US was ten percentage points lower than the 80.70% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
