A&W Food Services of Canada, the country’s original and fastest growing quick service burger chain has partnered with plant-based meat substitute producer Beyond Meat, to add Beyond Meat Sausage & Egger to its breakfast menu starting 11 March.

The new innovation is made with Beyond Meat’s 100% plant-based breakfast sausage sausage patty served with an egg and a slice of real cheddar cheese on a burger bun or an English muffin.

A&W Canada president and CEO Susan Senecal said: “We recognise Canadians are increasingly interested in including more plant-based proteins in their diets.

“Adding a plant-based protein option to our breakfast menu is the kind of innovation that we love. Just like our Beyond meat burger – this new breakfast sausage is packed with flavour and it’s hard to believe it’s made from plants. It’s delicious.”

Beyond Meat founder and CEO Ethan Brown said: “We couldn’t be happier to be expanding our partnership with A&W. We applaud A&W’s forward-thinking approach and look forward to introducing Beyond Meat’s latest product innovation to Canadians nationwide.”

The fast food restaurant chain initially partnered with Beyond Meat to introduce the Beyond Burger during June last year.

Beyond Burger is a blend of lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. The patty used for the burger is made using pulse crops such as peas and mung beans.

Currently operating more than 950 locations A&W Food Services of Canada will be the first restaurant chain to bring Beyond Meat’s newest creation to Canadians coast to coast.
