US steakhouse chain Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group has signed a multi-year partnership with national charity organisation St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to raise $5m over the next five years.

The funding will be used to support the hospital’s efforts to end childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group CEO Norman J. Abdallah said: “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital embodies the core of our company mission.

“This historic partnership establishes a philanthropic platform for our team members and guests to further engage with our communities.”

“This historic partnership establishes a philanthropic platform for our team members and guests to further engage with our communities on both a local and national level. There is no greater cause than one that strives to save the lives of children.”

Through the partnership, Del Frisco will support families at St. Jude to receive treatment, travel, housing and food for free by arranging an array of donations, programmes and fund-raising activities.

These will complement the company’s ‘Celebrating Life in Restaurants’ initiative, which is the result of a previous collaboration with St. Jude.

In September, the steakhouse chain agreed to sell Sullivan’s Steakhouse to Romano’s Macaroni Grill for gross proceeds of around $32m.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group is based in Irving, Texas, and operates 68 restaurants under various banners such as Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Barcelona Wine Bar, bartaco, and Del Frisco’s Grille.
