Digital restaurant platform Franklin Junction has expanded its virtual restaurant portfolio with the launch of a new concept, WingDepo.

Set to be opened in more than 55 host kitchens throughout Ohio and Kentucky this month, WingDepo offers buffalo wings, signature sauces such as Memphis Sweet BBQ, Mango Habanero, and Honey Stingin’ Garlic, as well as sides.

WingDepo will be available exclusively for delivery through Franklin Junction’s national partnerships with DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats, and GrubHub.

The company plans to begin the nationwide expansion of the new concept by early next year.

Franklin Junction founder Aziz Hashim said: “WingDepo is a perfect fit for the host kitchen model.

“The concept benefits our partners by increasing profitability in restaurants without additional capital expense.”

Launched in April, the company helps independent restaurateurs to monetise the excess capacity of their kitchens through virtual brands.

It connects restaurants with excess kitchen capacity to foodservice brands with specifically curated menus, enabling them to boost production and distribution in untapped geographic areas.

Franklin Junction network currently has 300 host kitchens in 35 states. It expects to add additional 200 host kitchens by early next year.

Hashim added: “Our goal is to help small and medium-sized restaurant owners participate in the fast-growing online sales channel on a par with the largest operators who have significantly more resources. We level the playing field.”

In July, Franklin Junction signed a new agreement with online and mobile food-ordering and delivery service Grubhub to focus on its fast-growing list of host kitchens and food concepts.

During the same month, Qu partnered with Franklin Junction to help US restaurants increase sales amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
