American fast food chain Jack in the Box has partnered with Qu to implement a cloud-based unified commerce platform across its Jack in the Box and Del Taco restaurant brands.

The technology aims to bolster digital sales, streamline efficiency and elevate the customer experience across all ordering channels.

Jack in the Box will leverage Qu’s business cloud platform to support kitchen fulfilment and multi-brand, omnichannel ordering.

The technology will help the restaurant brand execute its digital transformation roadmap and meet its goal of 20% digital sales by 2026.

Jack in the Box senior vice-president and chief technology officer Doug Cook said: “We’re building for growth. Investing in this technology is key to our expansion strategy, increasing connections across ordering channels, geographies and brands.

“Our partnership with Qu is the technology foundation we needed to deliver on our digital channel goals, drive automation and increase efficiency.

“We weren’t looking for just a point-of-sale (POS) system. We were looking for a stable platform we could build on for years to come. Our digital roadmap includes constant innovation and multiple upgrades, but none of it is achievable without Qu’s commerce platform.”

Qu’s technology supports multi-brand portfolios with a unified architecture, enabling consistent menu structures, data sets, reporting and application programming interface infrastructure.

This “one pane of glass” approach simplifies management and enhances the scalability of tech initiatives across the brands.

Qu’s integrated kitchen display system is set to increase speed, throughput and order accuracy for Jack in the Box.

Franchisees will have access to Notify, Qu’s mobile reporting app that utilises AI and machine learning to provide real-time sales, labour, product and store-level data.

Qu CEO Amir Hudda said: “Jack in the Box has always been an innovator. We’re proud to serve as a foundational element for their store of the future.

“Five years ago, we started on a journey to build a platform that would someday serve as the engine for large multi-channel, multi-brand quick service restaurant chains; we couldn’t be more excited to bring that vision to life with Jack in the Box and Del Taco.”

In March 2024, Olo partnered with Qu to integrate its digital payment processing tool, Olo Pay, with Qu’s POS system.
