UK-based pub chain operator Nightcap has acquired The Piano Works, a live entertainment concept in Farringdon, London, for £200,000.

The Piano Works, currently located at Nightcap’s Barrio Covent Garden venue, will become a permanent feature at the location following the acquisition.

STAMP Entertainment, a subsidiary of Nightcap, will acquire assets from TDC Concepts, operator of The Piano Works.

The current directors of TDC Concepts are set to become minority shareholders in STAMP, with further details to be disclosed following the finalisation of terms.

Launched in 2015, The Piano Works was operating from a large Victorian warehouse and offers an interactive live music experience.

Musicians perform songs requested by the audience, complemented by a food and drink service.

Nightcap plans to integrate The Piano Works into its portfolio, expanding the concept alongside its other brands.

Nightcap CEO Sarah Willingham said: “The Piano Works is another excellent addition to our group. I very much look forward to the future of this concept.  It adds a whole new area of expertise to Nightcap and a different entertainment offer, bringing live music to our customers.”

“We have known The Piano Works concept for a long time and look forward to working with the founders and their dedicated staff. After the very successful residency in our Barrio bar in Covent Garden at Christmas, we are delighted to be able to partner with them and provide the opportunities to bring this great entertainment concept to other cities across the UK.”

It will also incorporate The Piano Works’ existing Farringdon bar into the group and present opportunities for Nightcap to further roll out the concept.

In June 2023, Nightcap agreed to acquire the Dirty Martini brand and its ten bars from DC Bars for £4.65m.

Five Dirty Martini bars are situated across London in Bishopsgate, St Paul’s, Monument, Hanover Square and Covent Garden. The other five locations are in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff.
