American seafood restaurant chain Red Lobster launched a new addition to its menu, Cheddar Bay Breadsticks, for a period of just one day.

Cheddar Bay Breadsticks were made available exclusively for April Fools’ Day 2024 at the New York City Times Square location.

Customers had the opportunity to purchase these breadsticks from 12:00pm to 7:00pm, while supplies lasted.

Red Lobster chief experience officer Sara Bittorf said: “We’ve won over the hearts and stomachs of our guests for more than 30 years with Cheddar Bay Biscuits and it got us thinking – why isn’t there more Cheddar Bay in the world?

“So, we’re introducing a whole new level of ‘dough-liciousness’ to the table and have no doubt our new Cheddar Bay Breadsticks will rise to the occasion.”

In February 2024, Red Lobster introduced seven new dishes to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

These limited-time offerings were accompanied by the chain’s signature warm Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Among the new dishes was the Crispy Lobster & Shrimp Stack, featuring crispy lobster tail meat, shrimp and hush puppies [savoury fried batter balls] served over fries with slaw, honey-jalapeño butter and malt vinegar aioli.

In September 2024, the company appointed Horace Dawson as its new CEO.

Dawson took the helm following the resignation of Kelli Valade in April.

Dawson joined Red Lobster in 2014. He previously held the position of executive vice-president and general counsel, overseeing legal affairs and directing communications, risk management and government relations.
