The agreement was signed with an “experienced multi-unit operator” for the city of Fredericton, according to HBFG.

A search is underway for suitable real estate in the city.

The Fredericton agreement extends Rosie’s franchise footprint to six Canadian provinces and represents its third signed franchise arrangement in Atlantic Canada, as the group continues to build scale in the region.

Rosie’s operates as a boutique quick-service restaurant (QSR) concept, with a menu that includes signature smash burgers, onion rings, and poutine.

HBFG said it is maintaining a “disciplined approach” to growing the Rosie’s network, concentrating on franchising opportunities.

Rosie’s currently has 16 outlets in operation, with more than 114 additional locations secured under multi-unit and area development agreements across major Canadian markets.

HBFG CEO Sean Black said: “Securing Rosie’s first New Brunswick franchise agreement marks a meaningful milestone for the Rosie’s brand and another step forward in our Atlantic Canada expansion strategy.

“This is our third franchise agreement signed in Atlantic Canada, our first in the province of New Brunswick, and Rosie’s sixth province of signed agreements across Canada.

“As the capital city of New Brunswick, Fredericton provides an ideal backdrop for Rosie’s nostalgic, grab-and-go smash burger offering and supports our confidence in the brand’s long-term unit performance.”

In March, Happy Belly expanded Rosie’s Burgers chain in Quebec, with a new location in Montreal’s Mile End.
