Food and drink travel operator SSP Group has expanded its portfolio by opening its first outlets at two Brazilian international airports.

The two airports include Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim International Airport (RIOgaleão) and São Paulo International Airport (GRU Airport).

The new locations are part of SSP’s new joint venture partnership with Duty Free Americas (DFA). The JV received various contracts nearly £70m with a period of nine years.

As part of the deal, SSP opened the country’s first Upper Crust location on a 120m² of space at RIOgaleão. It offers a range of menu choices such as sandwiches, baguettes and snacks.

The company also opened a Barzetti location in the airside domestic food court at the airport to offer Italian style pizza and pasta dishes.

In addition, the food and drink travel operator has opened the Mi Casa Burritos concept at the São Paulo airport.

Marking its first location at the airport, Mi Casa Burritos offers a range of menu items such as tacos, burritos and nachos.

The company also opened an Upper Crust outlet on the landside of the airport along with a new Ritazza unit.

SSP Brazil general manager Rossana Spena said: “We’re incredibly proud and excited to be introducing some of SSP’s own brands to South America for the first time at two of Brazil’s busiest airports.

“These concepts have proven extremely popular with travellers across the world. I’m certain that passengers in Brazil will be equally as impressed with these much-loved brands.”

Furthermore, SSP is planning to expand its operations at the airports in the coming months by opening new Jamie’s Deli restaurants at both airports under its global partnership with Jamie Oliver Restaurants to open 18 outlets.

Jamie’s Deli will offer a range of sandwiches, salads, Italian dishes, antipasti and hand-stretched Neapolitan pizza.

Earlier this month, SSP Group extended its collaboration with German firm Tank & Rast to add more foodservice locations to portfolio.
