The Stonegate Group has announced that it will reopen the Goose in Gravesend, UK, on 27 March 2024, following a £300,000 refurbishment.

The investment has enhanced the pub’s sports-viewing experience, with new HD screens and three Sky boxes, a revamped sound system and new seating for a more immersive atmosphere.

The refurbishment includes not only technological upgrades but also an expansion of the dance floor and extended opening hours.

Customers can now enjoy the pub’s offerings until midnight on select weekdays and Sundays. Food service hours have been extended, with meals available until 10pm on weekdays and 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Goose has introduced an app through which customers can place orders directly from their tables to streamline service.

The pub is also launching new entertainment options, such as a games night on Tuesdays, a pub quiz on Thursdays and the return of Karaoke Fridays.

The Goose general manager Matt Gasson said: “After a lot of planning and substantial investment into the site, our team is looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers to our improved pub.

“The Goose has a strong family-friendly offering but is also the place to be in Gravesend for those looking for a great night out with friends, singing karaoke or partying with our in-house DJ.

“The investment has also boosted our sports viewing and we’re proud to offer some of the best facilities in town with plenty of special offers and events planned in the year ahead.”

Last month, Bloomberg reported that Stonegate, which is owned by TDR Capital, is considering the sale of 1,000 pubs to address its £2.6bn debt.

The planned divestment would raise £800m ($991m) and represents more than a fifth of its portfolio.

The decision to scale back comes in the wake of increased energy costs, labour shortages, high inflation and a shift in consumer behaviour with more people choosing to drink at home.
