Tim Hortons is set to expand its presence in India by opening two new restaurants in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

In a Facebook post, Tim Hortons India said the first store will be located on the ground floor of Supreme Headquarters, Off, Linking Road in Bandra. The second will open near Jogger’s Park, Back Road in Lokhandwala, Mumbai.

The store in Bandra will start serving customers on 27 May from 5pm onwards while the Lokhandwala store will open on 28 May, from 11am.

According to a report by CNBC-TV18, Tim Hortons is planning to open additional stores in Mumbai. The immediate expansion will also involve opening stores in Pune, a city close to Mumbai, by the end of 2023.

The report also cited Tim Hortons India CEO Tarun Jain as saying that the company is initially focusing on opening stores in the northern part of the country and then in the remaining parts of India.

Jain said: “The response has been fantastic in the north. Whatever targets we set in terms of store performance, expansion or cities we wanted to be in, we have exceeded all of that and we are now in Mumbai and we’re seeing a lot of excitement here after we announced the dates.”

According to Jain, the next Tim Hortons is likely to come up in Bengaluru, India and the company has already started the process of choosing sites for the stores. It is expected to open later this year.

The latest opening follows Tim Hortons’ continuous expansion effort in India, with Mumbai being the third state to feature the Canadian coffee and restaurant chain’s stores, after Delhi and Punjab.

The two new stores in Mumbai will be Tim Hortons’ 14th and 15th stores in the country.

In November 2022, Tim Hortons announced its plans to open nearly 120 stores across India in the next three years.
