Café chain and gourmet grocer The Providore Singapore has closed all its outlets in the country.

In a post on Instagram, The Providore Singapore thanked patrons for their “long-term support and kindness” and said it hoped to reconnect with them “in another form in the future”.

No explanation has been given for the shutdown.

The brand most recently operated six locations in Singapore, according to The Business Times (BT) report, including sites Downtown Gallery, Mandarin Gallery, and Wisma Atria.

Its Wisma Atria café is operated in partnership with Hong Kong-based chain Jomo.

The company also ran a warehouse facility at Ayer Rajah, which housed its head office and a retail area selling its range of gourmet foods, wines, beers, spirits and gift items.

A notice at the Mandarin Gallery outlet stated that The Providore Singapore had stopped operations on 8 March and was “taking steps to wind up the business”.

The same notice directed anyone with enquiries to a representative from liquidation company ClearView Associates.

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) told the publication that workers were also informed of The Providore’s closure on the same day. The trade union said it will extend support to the affected workers who are union members.

Launched in 2013, The Providore was one of the early names in Singapore’s modern café segment.

It became known for brunch-style dishes alongside retail products such as cheeses, baked items and other groceries.

The chain had been contracting its network before the full closure. Its Raffles City outlet, which had operated for four years, was shut in April 2025.

Ownership of The Providore changed on 1 April 2025, when it was acquired by SingFire Capital and Vino Vibe. Subsequently, SingFire Capital sold its stake to Vino Vibe, making the latter the sole shareholder in The Providore.
