Canadian fast-casual Tex-Mex chain Guac Mexi Grill is set to foray into India through a master franchise agreement with FranGlobal.

Under this arrangement, FranGlobal has been granted the mandate to establish and scale the Guac Mexi Grill brand across the country, forming part of the Canadian company’s broader international expansion agenda.

Guac Mexi Grill founder Trushna Makadia said: “India represents a major milestone for our brand.

“We see tremendous long-term opportunities in the market and believe the demand for premium, health-conscious, fast-casual dining experiences continues to grow globally.

“FranGlobal's experience and infrastructure make them the right strategic partner to lead this expansion.”

Guac Mexi Grill was launched in Canada in 2016 and has since expanded to more than 56 outlets, largely through franchising. It is present in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island (PEI), among others.

The brand operates in the fast-casual segment, offering Tex-Mex food supported by an operating model designed to function in both conventional and non-conventional locations.

The menu focuses on bowls, burritos, tacos and house-made sauces.

Makadia added: “This is an important step in building Guac into a globally recognised Canadian restaurant brand.

“Our focus remains on disciplined growth, strong operational execution, and protecting the premium experience that has fuelled our momentum in Canada.”

Meanwhile, Italian-themed dining chain Olive Garden is also preparing to enter the Indian market.

Restaurant operator Gourmet Investments Hospitality Group plans to open more than ten Olive Garden outlets in the country within the next three years.
