Capgemini and McDonald’s extend technology partnership for five years

Over the next five years, the two companies will work to modernise restaurants and accelerate delivery of new digital features.

Capgemini has extended its contract with McDonald’s for an additional five years to continue the rollout of modern platforms across guest and crew-facing experiences.

The technology services provider added that the move is aligned with the fast food chain's “Accelerating the Arches” strategy.

McDonald’s aims to reach 250 million 90‑day active loyalty users and generate $45bn in annual systemwide sales from loyalty members by the end of next year.

The fast food chain also plans to link thousands of its restaurants with Google Cloud technology as part of its growth strategy.

The renewed partnership is positioned as the next stage of McDonald’s digital transformation, with a focus on revenue growth and business value.

Over the next five years, work will centre on restaurant modernisation, consumer technology enhancements, quicker delivery of new digital features and adoption of more cost-efficient operating models, supported by AI.

Under the agreement, Capgemini will continue to provide engineering, deployment and support services for selected customer-facing digital channels and in-restaurant technologies across McDonald’s global operations.

McDonald’s Corporation global chief information officer Brian Rice said: “We’re focused on modernising our restaurants and elevating the customer and crew experience.

Capgemini uses AI and advanced analytics through its Applied Innovation Exchange to back McDonald’s wider technology ecosystem and public cloud strategy.

The tech business has been supporting McDonald’s digital transformation journey for more than a decade.

Recently, McDonald’s unveiled plans to invest more than €150m in its Irish business.
