Careem has rolled out a new feature in the UAE that significantly widens its food delivery radius, allowing customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to order from restaurants much farther away.

The Far-Away Gems feature more than doubles Careem’s typical food delivery radius, widening the distance from which customers can order meals.

According to a press release posted on Zawya, the launch responds to demand from customers who increasingly look for eateries outside their immediate vicinity and are willing to order from establishments viewed as “worth the distance”.

More than 600 restaurants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are currently part of the Far-Away Gems lineup.

Careem said the list was curated by its team using a defined set of criteria, focusing on venues that are highly rated, well-loved by locals, and historically accessible mainly to nearby residents.

The collection includes Aqaya, Al Sultan Restaurant & Grills, Al Ustad Special Kabab, Café De Paris and Pechka.

Careem marketplace businesses vice-president Nourhan Farhat was quoted by Zawya as saying: “The UAE is home to some truly extraordinary restaurants that have built loyal followings over years, sometimes decades. People search for them, recommend them, and make the trip across the city just to eat there.

“But for most customers, ordering from them has never been an option. Far-Away Gems changes that. It is our way of making sure that where you live is never the reason you miss out on a great meal.”

The Far-Away Gems feature is already live for customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and can be accessed in the Careem app under the Food section.
