All the UK locations of bakery-café chain Cinnabon have abruptly ceased operations.

EG On the Move, the bakery’s master franchisee in the UK, has decided to shutter all its 12 sites across the country.

These outlets are in high streets, shopping centres and petrol forecourts.

The US brand was introduced to the UK in November 2020 under a master franchise agreement.

Founded in Washington, US, in 1985, Cinnabon has grown to operate more than 1,200 locations globally.

An EG On The Move spokesperson said: “EG On The Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK. This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business.

“This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers.”

In April this year, US-based platform company GoTo Foods announced that it will introduce its first original concept – Cinnabon Swirl.

GoTo Foods consists of seven brands: Auntie Anne’s, Carvel, Cinnabon, Jamba, McAlister’s Deli, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Schlotzsky’s.
