Independent founder-led business Cornish Bakery has entered a partnership with Origin Coffee to expand in the UK, according to a report in The Cornish & Devon Post.

Cornish Bakery currently has 73 sites nationwide, with additional openings planned for later this year.

As part of the collaboration, all the bakery outlets will serve Origin’s coffee. Also based in Cornwall, the speciality coffee roaster runs eight coffee shop locations around the UK.

Origin Coffee founder Tom Sobey was quoted by the publication as saying: “We are thrilled to be working with Cornish Bakery, which feels like a celebration of where we come from and what we stand for.

“It’s incredibly special to see two Cornish-born brands supporting each other while bringing exceptional coffee to customers across the UK.”

The companies said that the arrangement is framed around local provenance and is linked to employment in Cornwall, and will support the expansion of both companies.

Last year, Cornish Bakery opened in Hereford, Worcester, Woodbridge, Exeter, and at Ashford’s McArthurGlen designer shopping outlet.

The bakery’s product range includes Cornish pasties and sausage rolls, among other items. It expects to serve around five million coffees this year.

Cornish Bakery founder Steve Grocutt said: “Working with Origin, a business that shares our values and commitment to quality, allows us to deliver a high-quality coffee experience for the millions who visit our bakeries each year.”
