Fogo de Chão, a restaurant chain known for its Brazilian cuisine, has opened its first outlet in the Philippines through a collaboration with Bistro Americano.

The establishment at Glorietta 4, located in Alaya Center, Makati City, is the first of five planned locations under a franchise agreement with Bistro Americano, which is part of restaurant operator The Bistro Group.

The opening aligns with Fogo de Chão's strategy for international growth.

The brand employs a franchise model to facilitate its global expansion efforts.

Fogo de Chão CEO Barry McGowan stated: “We’re thrilled to bring our differentiated culinary experience to Asia for the first time and couldn’t ask for a better team to align with than the talented group at Bistro Americano Corp.

“This opening marks a significant step forward in the execution of our global growth plans, and we are honoured to bring our passion for exceptional hospitality and experiential dining to Asia’s vibrant, dynamic and renowned culinary scene.”

Bistro Group has been operational for more than three decades and has a history of managing restaurant brands in the Philippines.

It currently oversees more than 220 restaurants, representing 25 different brands, including international names such as TGI Fridays, Texas Roadhouse, Italianni’s and Buffalo Wild Wings.

In July 2025, Fogo de Chão unveiled its plan to open a new restaurant location in the city of Tigard, in the US state of Oregon.

Expected to open in late 2025, the upcoming venue will occupy a 7,695ft² space within the Bridgeport Village shopping centre on 72nd Ave.
