Canadian restaurant franchisor Foodtastic has acquired Central Social Hall, a casual dining and social hall chain, for an undisclosed sum.

Central Social Hall was created in 2012 by founders Jerry Rota and Jesse Kupina. The concept, which currently runs two outlets in Edmonton, focuses on providing premium casual dining service.

The two venues focus on serving scratch-prepared, chef-led food and a curated drinks selection.

Central Social Hall brand leader Andrea Schlingmann said: “From day one, Central was built to be a place where people can gather to celebrate around a high-quality meal and atmosphere and create lasting memories.

“Foodtastic will provide Central with the infrastructure and scale to grow thoughtfully, while maintaining the culture, hospitality, and sense of community that are so important to us.”

The transaction is in line with Foodtastic’s stated focus on bringing additional Canadian concepts into its portfolio and widening its presence in formats that serve both routine dining occasions and more event-driven social visits.

The franchisor plans to expand Central Social Hall beyond its current base through a phased expansion strategy, starting elsewhere in Alberta and then moving into further provinces over the coming years.

Foodtastic founder and CEO Peter Mammas said: “Central Social Hall is a strong all-Canadian brand with a clear identity and a faithful guest base.

“Central fills an important niche by offering a hybrid dining experience that appeals to both the casual diner and those craving a more refined atmosphere. We are looking forward to growing this great brand in Canada.”
