Japanese-inspired Harajuku Tokyo Cafe & Bakehouse has expanded its presence with a new launch in Jio World Drive in Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra, as reported by ETHospitalityWorld.com.

The café, known for its pancakes, sandwiches and boba teas, now offers a menu developed in collaboration with Japanese chefs Asami Indo and Higuchi Nariaki.

The Mumbai location features two distinct yet linked spaces: the 72-seater Harajuku Tokyo Cafe & Bar and the 12-seater Harajuku Bakehouse.

During the day, the main restaurant offers a Kaiten Zushi experience with conveyor belt sushi and an open sushi bar.

By night, it transforms into an izakaya, featuring gyoza platters, interactive bar elements and sake bombs.

The space is designed to mimic a game centre and a Tokyo diner in Japan. Patrons can look forward to sushi boats and dessert challenges, alongside a robot DJ.

Chef Raaghav Jandroia, with his interest in Japanese cuisine, leads the culinary direction at Harajuku.

His cooking focuses on combining traditional flavours with innovative techniques.

The bar programme, curated by bar consultant Fay Antoine Barretto, is influenced by the pop culture of Japan.

The menu draws inspiration from Tokyo's neon-lit streets, anime, underground nightlife and cinematic legends.

Harajuku Tokyo Café founder Gaurav Kanwar stated: “Opening in Mumbai has always been part of the dream. It’s a city that thrives on culture, energy and design - everything Harajuku stands for. With this new restaurant, we’ve taken everything we’ve learned so far and turned it into something bigger, bolder and more immersive.”
