KFC UK and Ireland (UK&I) is set to introduce a new speciality drinks range, ‘Kwench by KFC’, aimed at capturing a larger share of the Gen Z drinks market.

The business will be the first KFC market globally to deploy the concept nationwide, following a trial in Manchester last year across 38 outlets.

According to a LinkedIn post, the rollout to all restaurants in the UK and Ireland is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

The launch is supported by a £38m ($52m) investment from KFC and its franchise partners.

In the post, the fast food chain said that the Kwench range comprises 11 freshly prepared drinks such as iced coffees, boba refreshers, sparkling lemonades and Krunch Shakes. Additional drinks are in the pipeline.

For the wider rollout, restaurants will receive dedicated Kwench counters and branding. In several locations, additional Kwench-branded furniture and other features will also be installed.

KFC UK&I strategy and innovation director Leo Sloley said: “Bold, trend-led drinks are playing a much bigger role in how Gen Z engage with restaurant brands, which is a huge opportunity for us.

“Kwench adds something completely fresh to our menu, giving people more reasons to visit KFC beyond our iconic chicken, at different moments throughout the day.

“Kwench is an important part of our ambition to become the fastest-growing restaurant brand for the next generation, and we can’t wait for our customers to try the range.”

Last year, KFC launched a new flagship restaurant in central Rome, Italy, to strengthen its European presence.
