Flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken restaurant brand Nando’s has opened its first outlet in Mumbai, India, situated at Kamala Mills.

This development follows the brand’s expansion to Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai, as reported by ET Hospitality World.

Founded in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nando’s has expanded internationally and now operates 1,250 locations across 23 countries.

The Mumbai Casa is part of a broader strategy to increase its footprint in India, where the brand currently has 18 restaurants in seven cities.

Nando’s plans to continue its growth in India, with 12 further outlets set to open in 2025.

The company has set a long-term goal of establishing 100 restaurants in the country by 2034.

Nando’s India CEO Sameer Bhasin stated: “From the start of our Joint Venture, we have been working to bring Nando’s to Mumbai in a big way and are super excited to officially launch the Mumbai chapter of Nando’s India journey, bringing the spirit of Nando’s to Mumbaikars.

“Mumbai is not just a commercial hub, but a city that thrives on community, culture and connection. We see a beautiful synergy between the city’s spirit and Nando’s values.”

In December 2024, Nando’s announced plans to open five new outlets in Mumbai, one at the airport's Terminal 2 and the others in shopping malls across the city.
