SpotOn introduces AI-powered feature for online ordering system

The tool uses AI to assess factors such as the time of day, day of the week and past purchases to prioritise menu options.

Restaurant management solution SpotOn has rolled out the AI-driven menu recommendation Picked for You feature for its fee-free online ordering platform, SpotOn Order.

Developed with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the feature tailors online menus to individual customers, seeking to improve order conversion rates.

Initial users have observed an average 6% rise in online orders.

The introduction comes as independent eateries grapple with challenges such as narrowing profit margins, evolving diner preferences and escalating costs for online orders, particularly after the lifting of third-party delivery fee limits in places such as New York.

With the Picked for You feature, restaurants will be able to maintain profitability and customer satisfaction without increasing staffing or operational burdens.

Designed for younger diners who value quick, user-friendly digital interactions, the tool employs AI to assess factors such as the time of day, day of the week and past purchases to prioritise suitable menu options.

It requires no configuration and enhances its recommendations as it adapts to customer habits.

SpotOn chief product officer Bryan Solar stated: “With margins under pressure and competition growing, all restaurants must have access to the same kind of intelligent tools as the big chains.

“Picked for You gives operators the power of AWS machine learning to quietly increase revenue, without extra overhead or effort.”

Currently accessible to all SpotOn Order website users, Picked for You is planned for inclusion in SpotOn’s GoTo mobile ordering application in the near future.

In June 2025, SpotOn launched GoTo Place, a mobile-first ordering channel to empower restaurants with integrated online ordering, loyalty programmes and direct customer engagement.

The application addresses the rising popularity of “super apps” in the food service sector, providing restaurants with a means to maintain ownership of data, income and oversight, independent of third-party services.
