US-based quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand Steak Escape has adopted Square as its unified commerce system for its 23 locations.
The move is part of a broader technology upgrade to support the chain’s “next phase of expansion” as it seeks to grow its franchise network, including drive-through restaurants.
Steak Escape CEO Kyle Turner said: “For us, this move wasn’t just about replacing our old POS [point of sale].
“It was about creating a system that gives our operators and corporate leadership real-time visibility, tighter cost control, and the ability to execute consistently at every location.
“Square stood out because it brings everything together – from the frontline to the back office – with an interface our teams love using and that’s scalable for our future.”
The business previously relied on a mix of separate tools and systems, which it says reduced transparency and contributed to inefficiencies between outlets.
By standardising on Square, Steak Escape aims to improve the speed of service and bring greater uniformity across its restaurant network.
The brand is now using Square Register for in-store service, Square Handheld for managing drive-through orders, Square Kitchen Display System to coordinate kitchen operations, and Square Kiosk to support self-service ordering.
Behind the scenes, Steak Escape is using Square for Franchises as its management platform for food and beverage operations.
The brand is also using Square’s own integrations for loyalty, marketing and online ordering, and has connected the system with Restaurant365 for its financial processes.
Turner added: “Until now, we had a patchwork tech stack that wasn’t communicating the way it should. As we look toward our next stage of growth, we need actionable data and franchisor-level visibility every day. Square was built to meet these needs.”
Steak Escape was established in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio, and serves a menu centred on cheesesteaks, sandwiches and fries.
Cinnaholic recently re-deployed Square’s commerce tools across its outlets after a brief switch to a competing system.
