Delight Restaurant Group has acquired 44 Wendy’s restaurants on Long Island, New York, US, from The Wendy’s Company.
As part of the deal, the group intends to build several new Wendy’s restaurants in the region. Under the brand’s Image Activation initiative, it will also remodel some of the acquired restaurants.
The 44 restaurants included in the deal employ more than 1,200 team members.
Delight Restaurant Group managing partner Andrew Krumholz said: “We are excited to continue and build on the strong performance of the Wendy’s restaurants in the Long Island market. We have an amazing team in place and look forward to making a positive difference in our communities.”
The group further plans to strengthen its presence in the market through acquisitions and new unit development.
Delight Restaurant Group managing partner Richard Krumholz said: “We are thrilled to grow with this exceptional portfolio and couldn’t be more excited about the future of the Wendy’s brand.”
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Established by Andrew and Richard Krumholz in 2016, Delight Restaurant Group currently operates 155 Wendy’s and Taco Bell locations.
The acquisition in New York is the group’s second deal this year after acquiring 54 Wendy’s restaurants in Raleigh, North Carolina as part of the NPC International bankruptcy sale process.
Delight Restaurant Group acquired the locations in March, for an undisclosed sum, from a subsidiary of NPC International.
The acquired restaurants have more than 1,500 employees and produce revenue of more than $85m a year.
