Fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s is set to discontinue the McCafé Bakery by removing the Apple Fritter, the Blueberry Muffin and the Cinnamon Roll from its menu, reported TODAY.com.

The Apple Fritter includes cinnamon and apples, fried and coated with a sugary glaze icing.

The Blueberry Muffin features blueberries and a topping of streusel crumb.

The Cinnamon Roll is drizzled with cream cheese icing and served warm.

According to a report by the Daily Meal, McDonald’s plans to start phasing these items out from 15 July 2023. However, it could take some time to fully remove the products from all the brand’s locations.

In an emailed statement to TODAY.com, McDonald’s US said: “We’re always listening to our fans and adjusting our menu based on what they crave.

“Starting this month, we’ll be phasing out our McCafé Bakery line-up, including the Apple Fritter, Blueberry Muffin and Cinnamon Roll.

“We know goodbyes are never easy — but fans can still satisfy their sweet tooth with our iconic Chocolate Chip Cookies, Baked Apple Pie and frozen desserts at restaurants nationwide.”

McDonald’s first launched the McCafé Bakery items in October 2020 to accompany its sweet menu, which includes sundaes and McFlurries.

The latest development comes shortly after McDonald’s decided to temporarily remove tomatoes from its burgers and wraps in some locations in India.

The decision was driven by concerns associated with spiralling prices, supply and the quality of tomatoes in the country.
