White & Case and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett have emerged as the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the South & Central American (SCA) region for the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, as per GlobalData’s latest legal advisers league table.

An analysis of the deals database by GlobalData, a data and analytics company, showed that White & Case achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on deals worth $1.3bn.

Meanwhile, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett took the lead by volume, advising on a total of four deals.

GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “White & Case was the clear winner by value as it was the only adviser to surpass $1bn in total deal value during Q1 2024. Apart from leading by value, it also occupied the third position by volume during the period.

“Similarly, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, which led by volume, also occupied the second position by value during the quarter.”

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, which advised on deals worth $485m, gained the second spot in terms of value ranking. The third position was taken by Linklaters, which advised on $221m worth of deals.

Baker McKenzie occupied the second position in terms of volume after advising on three deals.

It was followed by White & Case with two deals, Linklaters with two deals and Carey Abogados with two deals.
