US-based fast-food restaurant chain The Wendy’s Company has signed agreements that will bolster its footprint in Central Asia over the next nine years.
The company entered into three strategic development agreements with the owners of Kusto Group and Global Investors Limited (Wissol Group) to fuel its growth in the Republic of Georgia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
As agreed, a total of 65 Wendy’s restaurants will be opened in the three countries by 2030.
The Wendy’s Company international president and chief development officer Abigail Pringle said: “We’re excited to expand Wendy’s presence across the Central Asia Region with world-class, experienced franchisees that have strong operations experience, local development expertise and a proven track record for growing brands internationally.
“Kusto Group and Wissol Group, and their owners and affiliates, share our values and passion for quality and exceptional customer service.
“We firmly believe that our great-tasting, signature menu items – featuring made-to-order hamburgers, premium chicken sandwiches, fresh salads, fries, chili and Frosty desserts – will appeal to consumers who are looking for more options and high-quality food at a great price.”
As part of the expansion plans, Kusto Group and Wissol Group opened two Wendy’s locations in Kazakhstan earlier this year, as well as a drive-thru only restaurant in Georgia that started operating last month.
Kusto Group Board of Directors chairman Yerkin Tatishev said: “Customers should expect high-quality, fresh products and ingredients from Wendy’s.
“It is very important to our organisation that menu items are prepared and sourced locally, working with farmers and suppliers in both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to deliver on Wendy’s elevated menu standards.”
Founded in 1969, Wendy’s specialises in serving hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, French fries and desserts. Wendy’s and its franchisees operate more than 6,800 restaurants across the world.
Last month, Delight Restaurant Group acquired 44 Wendy’s restaurants in New York, US.
