US-based hamburger restaurant chain White Castle has partnered with Soundhound AI and Samsung Electronics to deploy their voice-enabled outdoor digital signage technologies.

The partnership will see the creation of voice AI-enabled dynamic drive-through menu boards for White Castle restaurant locations.

The new display technology combines SoundHound’s speech recognition and Samsung’s MagicINFO digital signage software to offer an interactive customer ordering experience.

White Castle operations services vice-president Mike Guinan said: “With White Castle Cravers everywhere hungry for our hot and tasty menu options, we are investing in processing orders at the drive-through even more swiftly.

“By working with tech innovators at SoundHound and Samsung, we’ve been able to create an engaging ordering experience that customers are loving. It’s the model for tomorrow today – and evidence of how friendly technology and great partners can be a game changer.”

The collaboration between the trio is expected to change the way the restaurant brand interacts with the consumers.

White Castle plans to roll out the interactive menu boards to more than 100 drive-through lanes.

Samsung Electronics America display and home entertainment divisions senior vice-president James Fishler said: “With MagicINFO, Samsung is helping transform menu boards from simple, static displays to personalised, easy-to-navigate experiences for the customer that also deliver business benefits to the restaurant.

“By integrating SoundHound’s AI-driven voice technology, we’re providing an extraordinary experience for White Castle customers when it comes to enjoying what they love.

“This is just the beginning of a relationship that will propel their brand to the cutting-edge of customer experiences powered by innovation.”
