UK coffee chain Costa Coffee has expanded its national footprint with the launch of its first drive-through outlet in Basildon, Essex.

The new site combines a drive-through lane with indoor and outdoor seating, catering to both sit-in customers and those looking to collect to-go orders.

Alongside its core drinks range, the store is serving Costa Coffee’s selection of freshly baked pastries.

Costa Coffee area manager David Gabsi said: “The opening of our Basildon drive-through store is a really exciting moment for Costa Coffee.

“We’re thrilled to bring our first drive-through to the area, continue growing in Basildon, and give the local community even more ways to enjoy their favourite coffee, faster and easier than ever before.”

The company said the outlet is located a short distance from its coffee roasting facility, described by the business as one of the largest roasteries in Europe.

Richard Holden, a member of parliament for Basildon and Billericay, said: “As the home of Costa’s roastery, which I had a look around recently, our town has long played a central role in the brand’s success, and it’s fantastic to see that investment continuing locally.

“The creation of 15 new jobs and a new, convenient offering for residents and visitors alike is great news for our community and for Basildon’s economy."

Costa Coffee has more than 2,700 coffee shops in the UK and Ireland.

Last September, Costa Coffee opened a drive-through location in Alcester, Warwickshire.
