Darden Restaurants to shut half of Bahama Breeze sites in US

The company plans to convert the remaining sites to other brands within the Darden portfolio.

Darden Restaurants has announced plans to close 14 of Bahama Breeze’s 28 US locations following the completion of a strategic review of the business.

The company plans to convert the remaining 14 sites to other brands within the Darden portfolio.

Darden had previously stated that Bahama Breeze sites were “no longer a strategic priority” and that it would consider “strategic alternatives”, including a potential sale of the brand.

Locations scheduled to close include restaurants in several US states, including Delaware, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia.

The closure list also includes restaurants in Florida, along with sites in King of Prussia and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.

These restaurants marked for permanent closure are expected to continue operating until 5 April 2026.

Darden plans to convert the remaining 14 Bahama Breeze locations over the next 12 to 18 months. These locations are expected to remain open until temporary closures are needed to complete the conversion work.

The company has not yet disclosed which of its brands will take over those sites.

However, it believes “the conversion locations are great sites that will benefit several of the brands in its portfolio”.

Darden does not expect the closures and conversions to have a material impact on its financial results.

It added that its priority “will continue to be on supporting team members, including placing as many as possible in roles within the Darden portfolio.”
