Brazilian steakhouse operator Fogo de Chão has expanded its US presence with the launch of its first site in North Carolina.

The restaurant is situated in uptown Charlotte. Design agency Harrison partnered on the venue's layout.

Inside, the branch features a visible churrasco cooking area where guests can view the chefs at work, alongside the chain's Market Table and a dedicated indoor bar section.

The site accommodates private dining reservations and group events whilst also providing outside catering.

Its operating schedule includes weekday lunch service and Brazilian brunch on weekends.

Operations at the new location are overseen by general manager Camilo Lopera, who joined the company in 2016.

The opening is projected to create upwards of 100 jobs in the local area.

Fogo de Chão CEO Barry McGowan said: “We’re thrilled to open our first North Carolina restaurant with our new location in Charlotte.

“It’s exciting to bring our immersive dining experience to Charlotte’s diverse and growing population.

“We look forward to welcoming both new guests and loyal Fogo Fans to discover the culinary art of Churrasco in a space that honours the rich traditions of Southern Brazil.”

Last month, Fogo de Chão opened its first restaurant in Costa Rica.

Located inside the Sheraton Hotel in Escazú, the launch was part of the restaurant brand’s broader Latin American expansion strategy.

The brand was launched via a franchise agreement with Alimentos Exclusivos, a restaurant operator running locations in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Colombia.
